This is a slide deck from the talk New Millenium, New Emotions? Sniglets for our Times. In it,  legendary East German games journalist Mika P. Fischer introduces and presents many examples of cross-temporal emotions, beginning with nostalgia and future anticipation, and going far beyond those.

This talk was originally held at the 16th Chaos Communication Congress (Berlin) in December of 1999. The motto of the art & beauty track was "you can create art and beauty with a computer." At the dawn of the new millenium, independent game developers across the world set out to prove this. Unfortunately, the German community did not survive the end of the "shareware age."

The Art&Beauty Tent was not set up for multimedia presentations. Therefore, the talk was technically not held at 16c3 itself, but in an adjacent building. As a result, it's missing from the timetable, and its contents were never made available online.

Fortunately, after his retirement from public life, Mika granted all of his work into the public domain. To my knowledge, this is the first upload of the long-lost slide deck. So, here you go! Enjoy!
